How My Journey Has Unfolded

A Small Town Gardener & Lifelong Scholar Turned Entrepreneur: A Business Story

Dear Reader,

I am a thinker. I have thought a lot about the world, how it affects me, and I affect it. I have deeply considered how I can authentically offer compassionate community-centered care that makes a difference in health outcomes. So, here is a look inside my mind, because who I am shapes how I care for people and that is what I do. I care…wholly.

It all started in my hometown, where my first love was caring for the environment and local town folk. Between the ages of 17 and 22, I nannied for a few families down the road and began my journey learning plant identification, sustainability, and ecological farming practices through WWOOF. Shifting my focus from plant medicine to the healthcare field, I obtained certificates in maternal-child health. Initially pursuing a degree in nursing, I opted for a B.S. in Health Science rather than continue waiting on acceptance into a BSN program. It has been an unpredictable ride with many redirections + transformations. Through it all, my purpose to serve remains my guiding star.

“…Do more than dream: work.
Do more than teach; inspire.
Do more than earn; enrich.
Do more than give; serve.”

-William Arthur Ward

After years devoted to the well-being of ALL life, I have nurtured my own philosophy and cultivated a love for truth and harmony. It has helped me artfully navigate a balanced life, personally and professionally. Although, I will always remain a work in progress.

My philosophy is a peaceful state of mind governed by complimentary principles that support my dreams and aspirations.

  • We are all emotional beings who function best from a place of compassion. Judge less & play more.

  • Gentle and clear communication is essential to productive and healthy relationships. Be truthful, transparent, and open-hearted.

  • Education is a life-long journey. Stay curious.

As a result of working with people from diverse backgrounds, communicating, listening and understanding are essential in my profession. These interpersonal communication and problem solving skills are often utilized to help clients navigate their individual wellness journey. I value these traits beyond my professional arena as well.

Education ensures that I am up-to-date on research and relevant information, which improves services and client satisfaction. On a personal note, learning keeps my mind sharp and conversation interesting.

Years of experience has shown me that I would rather stay playful than harden. When obstacles arise, a joyful outlook helps me overcome them.

I sustain the opinion that it’s best not to hold icky judgment of others or oneself; ask questions often, seek reputable and evidence-based information for guidance, remain a scholar of life, and prioritize your happiness.

My job is to provide education and caring support, not to judge one’s birth or postpartum or massage preferences.

Are you healthy? Are you safe? Are you receiving informed support? Are you satisfied with your experience? Do you feel like your choices are respected and honored? Is your autonomy unthreatened or does your care team expect compliance?

These are the questions that shape my agenda because your goals and preferences matter. Plus, life is far more beautiful and far less stressful when freed of unfavorable judgements.

I would like to highlight that life taught me more than the time I spent sitting in a classroom. Both of which I have done loads of; studying as well as full on life-ing.

At 29 years, I finished my B.S. in Health Science at CSU Channel Islands. Thus, I applied my personal and professional knowledge to classwork. In turn, I used my academic studies to refine my business and grow my skillset. I received more out of my college career than I would have if I was a young adult with zero life skills. I saw endless potential in the topics I studied and am so grateful how things manifested for me despite being greeted by a pandemic induced lockdown shortly after graduating with my bachelors degree. That was a rude awakening!

Although this digital interaction has its limitations, I hope you are able to get a sense of my essence through this snapshot of my philosophical mind and are left wanting to learn more about my offerings because I want to learn more about how I can assist you!
