Lactation Counseling

At Zeri Health, breast/body-feeding guidance is provided by a certified lactation counselor (CLC). Sessions can be scheduled in-home or virtually.

Topics covered:

• Demonstrate latch and positioning at breast

• Discuss benefits of breastfeeding for mother and child

• Inform parents of normal newborn feeding habits and what to expect in the first months

• Discuss skin-to-skin contact and the importance of it

• Review significance of pee & pooh diapers and what to expect

• Cover pumping guidelines if applicable

• Educate on hand expression, breast massage & it's benefits

• What are warm & cold compresses & when to use them

• Discuss plugged ducts, mastitis & risk factors

• What is LAM? Lactation amenorrhea method

• What is uterine involution & how to promote it via oxytocin 

• Review paced bottle-feeding

• How to store human milk in a fridge or freezer

Topics will be covered as needed and tailored to the specific circumstances of each family
